Akmal Foods & Suraya’s Indian Kitchen

Akmal Foods & Suraya’s Indian Kitchen originally started in Frankfurt, Germany 30 years ago. Before opening our current location, we started our humble beginnings at the Makuu Farmers Market. Over time, we expanded to various festivals like the Chinese Festival, Merry Monarch, World Heritage Festival, Ho’olaulea and the Bob Marley Festival. In 2005 Akmals opened up our first and only location off of West Lanikaula. In 2009, we moved to Haili Street, across from the Lyman Museum in Hilo. We are currently located in downtown Hilo at the historic Kress Building on Kamehameha Avenue. We love what we do, and we hope it shows in our Indian and Pakistani style cuisine.
